Surviving my life hurdles in January 2017

Staying true to my own advice I will be making small, manageable changes each month to accomplish my goals across different aspects of my life, including health and wellbeing, parenting and family, finances/building an income and blogging.  I’m still at the beginning of my journey but there’s a lot I’ve learnt already which should hopefully help me stay on the right path.

My January goals

These are the first steps I’m taking to survive my life hurdles this year.

By showing you how hard I’m working at surviving my own life hurdles and by demonstrating the success I’m having in achieving my goals I hope to inspire you to tackle your own hurdles and to take positive action by setting a few manageable goals and introducing some small but powerful changes into your life too.

Health and wellbeing

  • Manage my fatigue as best as possible and accept it is here to stay but work with it rather than against it.

I’m going to achieve this by going easier on myself and by trying to accept that whatever I do there will be good times and bad times during each month and take each day as it comes.  I will be making an effort to make less definite plans, instead creating more adaptable plans, particularly for my weekend or when I’m planning my workload and taking more rest when I need it so there is more flexibility for me and hopefully less frustration.

Parenting and family

  • To concentrate on the things I can do with my son rather than beat myself up about the things I can’t and don’t sweat the small stuff.

I will do this by exploring quick and easy activities I can do with my son which don’t take up more energy (or money) than I have.  I also need to accept that fancy, time-consuming crafts/baking/days out etc. aren’t possible for me right now and to stop comparing myself to others.  There are also loads of things I do every day with my son which are valuable and I should recognise more, such as going for walks together and reading stories.

Finances and building an income

  • Take more active steps to make money whenever possible; prepare and advertise for a lodger, explore online/mobile money making such as using apps etc.

I’m going to take steps to build more of an income this month by preparing our spare room for a lodger.

Our spare room has been a dumping ground for stuff we need to sort through ever since we moved into our house and even taking into account my fatigue it’s about time we sorted it out- lodger or no lodger!

Blogging

  • Be inspired by other bloggers and learn positive things from them rather than compare myself and overly criticise my work or how popular my blog is.

I think with blogging it can be very easy to fall at the first hurdle when you start comparing yourself to others so I need to think less about what I think I can’t do and more about the positive things I’m learning along the way and implement those.  I’m going to keep a personal record of things I’ve learnt, new approaches to try and positives from each day to keep me inspired and motivated and to hopefully, show how far I can go in a short space of time (when I give myself the chance)!

So there are my goals for January- let’s see how I get on!

Have you got any goals you’re working on to help survive your life hurdles too?
